Beautiful style, but leather smells awful

The bag is beautiful, but the smell is bordering on unbearable. It’s not a rich leather smell, it’s like putrid sour milk and bad body odour. I’ve had to douse it in products and perfume to try and make it bearable. But if it’s in a small room with me it fills the air with an overpowering smell, or if I’m wearing the bag over my shoulder the smell gives me a headache. I’m going to persist in my attempts to fix it because I love the size and style of the bag, and surely the smell will change over time - but this is a major disappointment. I can’t believe this is how all products smell and wonder if there’s something defective about my bag? Love the store, love your products, but this is a real downer.
