Duckfeet in Denmark have been making shoes by hand for over forty years. Duckfeet are simple and functional, typical of mid-20th century Danish design. Duckfeet foot-formed design allows room for the toes to spread naturally as you walk, and for air to reach the feet. Leather midsoles and uppers breathe and transport moisture away from the foot. We use leather because it strong and long-lasting, but also flexible – allowing the shoe to move with and mould to your individual foot shape.
No two pairs of Duckfeet are exactly alike. Every pair of shoes is treated individually during production, the natural tanning and processing by hand allows for subtle variations in the leather. These variations are highlighted by the particular way you wear them, which imbues each shoe with personality, your story, for your life.
Himmerland features premium, full grain, 100% leather uppers, insole, and leather midsole. Our non-toxic, vegetable tanned leather is manufactured according to strict environmental standards. It is drum dyed using high quality, non-toxic dyes and specially treated to be water and dirt repellant. Using traditional European Veldtschoen construction the upper is built up by hand over a flat last then the midsole is double stitched to our 100% natural crepe rubber outsole. Every pair of Duckfeet comes into contact with many experienced hands before they are placed in their box and fitted to your feet.

We like to put our best foot forward, but are the shoes we wear the best for our feet?
Good shoes (in our books) are defined by their shape, and specifically, the shape of the toe box. A wider toe box allows your feet to move naturally and breathe and accommodates the natural swelling that occurs to our feet throughout the day.
The health benefits of wider footwear can be felt all over your body. Initially, your toes will thank you, for not cramping or constricting them in footwear that confines your feet and in-turn, your movement.
Your lower back, legs, hips, and posture will also appreciate the space you give your toes. Wider footwear encourages total body movement, ensuring your muscles stay active and work harmoniously to support you.
Move more freely and choose footwear with wider toe boxes; your body will thank you for it.
Choosing the right size
Before or during ordering your shoes, we recommend you measure the length of your feet to find the right size. Our chart may help you but does not guarantee that the shoes fit.
To ascertain your measurement, stand on a ruler against a wall. Your measurement should include the entire length of your foot, measured from heel to longest toe.
Please measure both feet, and choose your size based on the largest measurement.
If your foot length equals the maximum on any of the measurements, please choose the next size up.
Boots with wool lining might need to be ordered in the next size up to accommodate the wool.
If you are in-between sizes, we offer Wool Insoles that may help with half-sizes.
As your Duckfeet break in, the leather will soften and stretch in the width if needed; please keep this in mind when sizing.

Caring for your leather Leather is skin, and skin needs care. We recommend that you apply a thin layer of leather conditioner or shoe cream at regular intervals. Don’t use too much at one time. It’s better to use a little less a bit more often. Let the shoe cream sit a few minutes and polish afterwards with a soft cloth. Use a shoehorn when you put your shoes on – they are easier to get on and the back will not be destroyed. Untie or unzip the shoes or boots completely when you remove them – so they are easier to pull off. It’s better for the shoes than trampling on them! If you care for your shoes regularly, you will enjoy them longer. Your shoes will be grateful for it. |

If your shoes get wet Store your shoes in a dry and airy place. If your shoes become wet, fill them with crumpled newspaper and let them air-dry. When they are completely dried, you can again apply leather conditioner or shoe cream. Leather shoes should not be dried on a radiator – the leather becomes dried out and porous. If the leather gets water stains, take a cloth and make the whole shoe slightly damp. Treat the leather afterwards as described above. It is best to change your shoes daily. Give your Duckfeet a day’s rest, so they can release the foot’s moisture and dry thoroughly. |

If your shoe get dirty If the shoes get dirty, clean them with a damp cloth. Let the shoes dry thoroughly and treat the leather again with shoe cream or leather conditioner. Be attentive to edges and seams, which should also be treated to maintain the leather and protect your shoes against water. |

Caring for crepe rubber Crepe rubber soles can become hard at low temperatures, but this can be avoided by storing the shoes at a temperature between 20-25C. If the soles become hard, you can place the shoes on a warm radiator, until the crepe rubber is soft again. Avoid contact with solvents. The rubber cannot tolerate it and can dissolve. |

I live in these. Fit me perfectly. I have quite a narrow heel so I find it really hard to find shoes that fit me but these are perfect. I did swap out the insole for something with a tad more padding but I’m still getting used to barefoot

Very happy with my Barebarics. they are a lovely looking shoe, and very comfortable. I’ve been wearing barefoot style fabric shoes for a couple of years and wanted a more durable pair. These are super comfortable, lightweight and really well made. Enough toe room that I can wear toe spacers. The soles are a little less flexible than my fabric shoes but that is to be expected in this much more durable leather shoe, and I think that once the leather is fully worn in they’ll only be more comfortable! That said, I wore them all day as soon as I got them without any issues. Love them!
These shoes are dangerous - you WILL want to swap out all your shoes for their sexier barefoot cousins once you start this journey, so beware!
I took the recommendation of sizing up and promptly returned them, realizing this suggestion may be more appropriate for those with less barefoot mileage, aka crinkled corporate toes. I usually wear a 9.5 US and have ended up with 40 EU, the equivalent size, and I am in love.
It's early days, as I've only had these for a few weeks, so I am curious how they will hold up, as there is little to them. I will update this review in a few months ;)

Ordered the Duckfeet Klitmoller slides for a 5 week overseas trip to US/Ireland/UK and I wore them every day! They are super comfortable, the wool lining doesn't get too hot, and adds a bit of extra comfort. I got loads of compliments and questions about them. The team at The Natural Shoe Store were extremely helpful when I was considering the purchase, emailing back and forth with me to ensure I had the right size and offering exchange options which would suit (considering I was going overseas in a matter of days) if I got the wrong size (thankfully that wasn't needed but it was very appreciated!).

Really happy with the Vivo Barefoot Magna Light. The give the barefoot feel with great grip and fit around the ankles. The fit a broader foot and feel really comfortable. Love them!

On a recent trip to Melbourne we visited your store to get a feel for barefoot shoes and to see what all the fuss was about. My partner and I were so impressed we walked away with a pair each and a good recommendation for strong coffee nearby. After that, I returned to the store to buy a second pair before heading home. Two weeks have passed and I haven't taken my barefoot/natural shoes off. My back pain has gone, as has my bunion pain. I work in events management and my feet often ache. My toes have started to straighten and find the ground in a whole new way. The sensations are returning to my feet and I cannot see myself wearing standard shoes any more. It’s so surprising how something so minimal and thin becomes one of the most comfortable shoes I own. Really makes me realise that less is more, and natural is the way forward. I am using it for strength training and walking — it’s been about a month and it’s holding up well so far. My only wish is that they make these shoes more affordable!
Love my new Vivobarefoot shoes, they are the weatherproof edition so I can’t wait to try them in the wet weather. So comfy for every day too.

I've been thrashing my Duckfeet for over two months now. On footpaths, roads, and hiking trails, beaches, ice and snow...and they just continue to satisfy. No matter if the temps are -19º or 17º they keep my feet so dry and warm.
These babies have been on my feet almost constantly the last few weeks. They’ve climbed mountains, clambered rocks and walked beaches. They’ve accompanied my feet to dinner and have walked all over cities and through beautiful towns. They’ve been deliciously warm in sub-zero temps (but not hot on the warmer days) and so incredibly comfortable. Would recommend and buy again in more colours.
